This Hairstyle Is Making a Perfect, Asymmetric Comeback
Amid a resurgence of Y2K staples, side parts were everywhere on Spring/Summer 2025 runways, as designers tapped top hairstylists to reintroduce the look in experimental ways.

Once dismissed as a millennial relic, the side part has made a triumphant return. For years, the industry’s obsession with minimalist beauty has favored the "clean" symmetry of hair that’s parted down the middle. But, like their fashion counterparts, beauty trends are cyclical, and amid the resurgence of Y2K staples like low rise pants, dresses over jeans, and peep-toe heels, the side part was everywhere on the Spring/Summer 2025 runways. This time, though, designers tapped the industry’s top hairstylists to reintroduce the look in experimental ways that feel not just nostalgic, but fresh.
Look no further than Saint Laurent's show, where, thanks to hairstylist Duffy, models rocked sleek side parts with tailored suits designed by Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello. Others on the Paris runway wore their hair in voluminous waves that romantically cascaded from anywhere but the center. And things only escalated from there.
Hairstylist Anthony Turner went for an edgier look at Acne Studios, where side parts flowed into artful hair formations that were plastered to the models’ faces. Jil Sander’s show featured similarly slicked-down side parts—this time, with bangs fixed into a single swoop—while braids got the side part treatment at Vaquera. Taking a more undone approach, Vivienne Westwood featured tousled hair that was tossed to one side; Gabriela Hearst presented a similar image, but with a shorter cut. Missoni’s version, created by hairstylist Jawara, was more geometric, with zig-zag side parts recalling the label’s classic patterns, and Hermès achieved something similar with exaggerated deep parts.
Despite the many different takes, one thing is clear across the board: The side parts dominating today’s catwalks—at contemporary labels and heritage houses alike—are far from stale and recycled. If anything, the side part has been brought back to life with plenty of versatility and personality as it, once again, takes center stage.
