UNDERCOVER and GU Launch New Fashion Line UG
After a series of successful collaborations, UNDERCOVER and GU (Uniqlo's sister brand) are making their relationship official. Meet UG, the fashion brainchild of the Jun Takahashi-led label and the Tokyo-hailing retail brand that's aiming to "elevate the initiatives" between the two imprints.Coming next month, UG's first collection is inspired by the theme of "Silent/Nose," and it features "playful designs and unstructured styling that bring a slight sense of discomfort and surprise to everyday fashion," according to the label. The 19-piece line includes Takahashi-ified GU signatures, like sweatshirts, cargo pants, and broadcloth tops, as well as sharp two-piece suits, technical coats boasting UNDERCOVER's classic "fang camouflage" pattern and illustrative "Noise Burger Shop" tops with drawings by Takahashi — all of which are listed at prices far below the usual cry of $300 USD to $1,400 USD for a mainline UNDERCOVER piece.
