What are these stainless steel tarnishes? Best method for removal?
I've been refinishing a stainless steel surface (part of a cabinet) using an orbital sander. Only used low grit so far, so you can see the surface is still rough, but uniformly so. However, there are a few spots where the surface is discolored (see photos). They look like chemical stains of some kind to me. Unlike other scratches and discolored spots on the sheet, these didn't look like they were coming off from sanding (although I haven't done too many passes yet). Anyone dealt with similar spots? Is there a reliable way to get a uniform look again? submitted by /u/Beautiful-Dream-537 [link] [comments]
