what is the trick for using a plunger on a kitchen sink with a dishwasher vacuum break?

I am often successful without doing anything special other than plugging the disposal side with the drain cover and filling that side with water, while having my partner hold the cover down, while I work the main sink side with the plunger. But a lot of effort gets wasted through the vacuum break. What's the trick, or is there one. I don't have drain problems often, but when I do, the plunger almost always does the trick. submitted by /u/rcwagner [link] [comments]
