Yakuza / Like a Dragon Fans Choosing Upcoming Official Merch, From Cult Clothes, Traffic Cones, and More Bizarre Items

Yakuza / Like a Dragon is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and, to celebrate, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is letting fans choose what it should make for upcoming official merch. Options include cult clothes, a traffic cone, golden underwear, and more bizarre items.

As reported by Automaton, fans can choose from a staggering 100 different items with the promise of RGG Studio putting the top two on sale within the next two years. The competition is only listed in Japanese but votes can be submitted on the official website.

Some products are more typical like the 20th anniversary celebration hoodie or a Yakuza themed pencil case, but others are pulled from the famously wild franchise's history and are even weirder in the real world.

Examples include the aforementioned cult outfit worn by The Order of Munan Chohept Onast cult leader Munan Suzuki in Yakuza 0, the enormous traffic cone Majima hides under to catch Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the simply described "Puffy Gold Pants."

Also on offer is the sake Majima drinks in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the gold watch worn by fan favorite Akiyama, the fountain pen Kiryu writes to Dojima with in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, the tamborine shaken by Kashiwagi while singing karaoke in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the wrestling mask worn by Kiryu in Yakuza 3, Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, and many more oddities.

The wild and wacky franchise will see at least one entry released in its 20th anniversary year of 2025, as Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii arrives on February 21. RGG Studio put a lot of effort into the 10th anniversary, releasing beloved prequel Yakuza 0 as a celebratory project, but it so far hasn't announced if anything similar will arrive later in the year.

While two releases in one year might seem farfetched, RGG Studio is known for its rapid development cycles. In the last five years, for example, it has released Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, alongside two Super Monkey Ball Games and an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5. That's nine games in total.
