After Fashion, Butter Yellow Is Now Taking Over Makeup
The color of the season has made its way over to beauty, and TikTok enthusiasts can't get enough.

Butter yellow has been the color of the season in fashion for several seasons now. Maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that the pastel shade's influence is now spreading to beauty. On TikTok at least, the pale hue is a focal point of today's favorite makeup looks.
The yellow hue, while rooted in fashion, has found its way over to the beauty industry with a promise to become prominent in it. It's begun to influence makeup looks, specifically eye looks, from the most subtle accents to intricate butter yellow designs. These eye looks offer a vibrant, unexpected pop of color to the overall makeup look.
These experimental makeup looks were first seen on the Fall/Winter 2025 runways, like the Saint Laurent show and at Sarah Burton's debut as the creative director of Givenchy. For the Haider Ackermann Tom Ford presentation, makeup artist Lucy Bridge used the prominent color on the models' eyelids, letting the beauty industry know that it's time to embrace the color for faces as well.
The butter yellow trend has inspired beauty enthusiasts on TikTok to incorporate the color into their makeup routines. The TikTok influencers all recommend that the intense eye look be complemented by neutral tones and a neutral base to create a balanced look. With a color as lively as yellow, it's best to avoid colors that would clash with or overpower it.
The color's dominance in fashion is unmissable. Think about Sabrina Carpenter's homage to Kate Hudson's character in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days for her 25th birthday celebration, and Kate Middleton embracing the color at this year's Buckingham Palace garden party (while wearing a dress designed by Emilia Wickstead). Designers have also shown their love for it, as seen in Chloé's Spring/Summer 2025 collection (which featured dresses and jackets in butter yellow) and Luar's clothes of the same season with accent pops in the hue. Now, it's beauty takeover is here.
Content creator @camiladerizans attempted the trend, and the hue enhanced her brown eyes. For those who appreciate an intricate eye look, @emerskyeemakeup created the perfect look by keeping her base neutral and opting for a nude lip while leaning into detailed floral designs to pair with the it-color. Butter yellow makeup, especially for the eyes, doesn't seem like it'll go anywhere for a while. Like all good makeup trends, it has a food-ified name and lots of related tutorials on TikTok.
