Aminé Properly Ushers In Summertime with '13 Months of Sunshine'

It's always sunny wherever Aminé is. The creative multi-hyphenate is back in his music bag, returning with a captivating and colorful fourth studio album – which also signals his first solo studio album since 2021. Aptly entitled 13 Months of Sunshine and inspired by the musician's time in Mexico City, the 16-track offering is a masterclass in artistic versatility, a medley of musical influences and genres that comingle to create a sonic profile that sounds like summer.Reflecting on romances, travels and all of the shiny things, 13 Months of Sunshine is, at first listen, an upbeat listen, immersing us in the nostalgia of summers past.Opening offering "New Flower!" (which also features Leon Thomas) sees Aminé take it back to the beginning, reminiscing on his come-up – "Complex wasn't really paying me sh*t / Def Jam had me getting sandwiches / Got one for Big Sean but at least he tipped," he spits on – teeing up for the wittily flirty "Feels So Good."However, there are pockets of the album that find the musician more introspective in the cut. "History" with Waxhatchee is a more indie-inspired track, while "Doing The Best I Can" arrives as a raw solo delivery. In addition to The Streets on "Arc De Triomphe," other features on the album come from Monsune, Lido, Aster Aweke, 454 and Toro Y Moi.1.
