Become an archeologist in No Mans Sky: RELIC update, launching today
Hello Games has officially unveiled No Mans Sky: RELICS, which is one of the latest in a long line of updates for the space exploration game that is set to turn explorers into archeologists across the cosmos. In RELICS, explorers will be able to dig into the terrain to find hidden treasure and become universal paleontologists, digging up skeletal remains of alien creatures that used to inhabit each world, which can lead to you creating your very own in-game collection of creatures long extinct in the cosmos. https://youtu.be/B3TWSQHaIMw When exploring, you can find huge monster fossils that can be excavated and collected from the ground and when new bones are discovered, you can piece them together any way you like. So you could use the head of one creature from one world with the body of another to create your own terrifying prehistoric encounters. Hello Games then allows you to create your museum at your base to display your creatures for travelers and friends to observe. If digging up bones isn't your style, you'll be happy to know that Hello Games has added a new specialist in the Space Station that exists specifically for battering to sell and buy Bones of different rarities and sizes, so you can create your ideal monster museum without needing to go out and find relics yourself. Not every Relic is dead though, as players can also find and dig up hostile relic creatures that are protecting treasures galore, so make sure to equip yourself with a good amount of weapons to defend yourself against these new threats. These new threats include Stone Ghosts and the colossal Stone GHolem, huge relic-like mechs that are protected by some of the greatest treasures added in the new update. New creatures have been introduced too, along with their skeletons—including the awesome skeletal Titan Worm! Dinosaur time. Image via Hello Games Dirty dealings. Image via Hello Games To coincide with the RELICS update, Hello Games is launching a community expedition that will focus on paleontology and challenge players to compete against one another to find the rarest fossils around. Not much is known about the expedition, but explorers should be prepared to travel from planet to planet in search of the rarest fossils around to beat their fellow travelers. Players won't have to wait long either to get their hands on the update, with it launching later today on PC, console, and PC for free to existing players and new ones.
