Bronx and Banco’s Sheer Extravaganza Is an Ode to NYC Women

Bronx and Banco’s Fall/Winter 2025 show kicked off with a sheer corset and a sheer skirt, which made for an accurate precursor of the sheer extravaganza to come. Clothes on the runway were overwhelmingly see-through, carrying the baton for the naked dressing fashion trend of late. Beyond the swath of diaphanous clothes, the rest of the garments channeled the brand’s signature loud glamour. No wonder this collection is so bold—it’s a love letter to New York women.

“They're so strong and they're so fashionable. I always had it in mind to design something just for them. That’s why this collection looks a little different than what Bronx usually shows,” Founder and Creative Director Natalie De’Banco tells L’OFFICIEL. “She’s way more bold this season, but there are still the usual dresses.”

The brand is known for its statement pieces and details (like beading and various hand-done embellishments), and those signatures remain in the newest collection. A black velvet maxi dress, for instance, boasts an asymmetric cutout with rhinestone-covered bra peaking out. What’s different about Fall/Winter 2025 is its focus on suiting and more tailored pieces, like a burgundy set, structured jackets, and neckties (skinny and traditional alike). Still, these tailored pieces are not all what one might wear to the office. For example, that aforementioned burgundy set is covered in crystals. Some blazers pair with micro mini shorts.

“We have to wear pants these days,” De’Banco says, explaining why she thinks she focused on suiting and why neckties are trending in womenswear more broadly right now. “Especially with women’s rights and how things have been, I think we just have to stand up for ourselves... it's something so sexy being feminine, but also wearing a suit and showing a little masculinity, strength, and power [matters]. I feel when I wear a suit it means I've been business.”

Angel Reese, who wore the brand to the 2024 WNBA Draft, was an inspiration for more hooded gowns in the collection, which showed at the Hall des Lumières on the eve of New York Fashion Week. The designer says she remembers how “inspirational” and what a career highlight it was to see the Chicago Sky player wearing her lavender-hued, hooded dress. The new looks might aim to make a sartorial appeal to the New York City woman, but they can be for anyone from anywhere, so long as they embody a certain confidence and bold energy.
