CoD fans finally got a new look at Black Ops 7—all thanks to an accidental Xbox leak
Call of Duty players have been hoping for a glimpse at Black Ops 7 ever since it was revealed in a cinematic trailer a few years ago, and now their wish has been granted. Kind of. Accidentally. It appears that an internal developer message of the day was posted errantly on Call of Duty HQ, the hub app that all recent CoD titles are launched out of, and players who got it were quick to take screenshots. And in the images, we got several new looks at BO7 and what it has to offer, including what looks like soldiers in Advanced Warfare-style exosuits. Image via @charlieINTEL/Twitter Image via @charlieINTEL/Twitter The first image shows two futuristic-looking soldiers, looking more like they're from Black Ops 4 than Black Ops 2 (BO7 is set 10 years after BO2), and text about a mode called Overload. In Overload, "two teams of six players each fight to control a neutral EMP device that must be delivered to the enemy HQ for score." The second image shows more futuristic soldiers wearing exosuit-like frames, doing battle around a quadruped robot with a machine gun on its back, teasing modes for Core six-vs-six and 20-vs-20 Skirmish gameplay. Some are questioning if this "leak" was intentional to drum up hype for BO7, but it appears that this may be a side effect of CoD HQ being the home for current and future content. The latest iteration of the CoD hub has had several leaks and data mines stem from it in the past. The newest Black Ops 6 update, Season Four Reloaded, will drop next week. Beyond that, the next few months of CoD's schedule are shrouded in secrecy, including the assumed new iteration of CoD Next where BO7 and more looks at the franchise's future will take place. For now, dedicated CoD-heads are still just waiting for BO7's release date to be confirmed so they can pencil in a sick day this fall.
