Arc Raiders release: Everything we know about the extraction shooter so far

Let’s be honest: the Arc Raiders release date is probably one of the most sought-after bits of info for action gamers this year. Having successfully transformed the game from a third-person survival shooter into a PvEvP extraction title, and with a reportedly engrossing Arc Raiders playtest, the hype is clear.

Of course, we’re also keen on a fully operational Arc Raiders game we can jump into, to salvage, shoot, survive, and extract. But..when? Embark Studios may be hoping that doesn’t matter so much. After all, it’s successfully crafted a keen following, from gamers disillusioned with the standard EFT-alikes, gamers intrigued by its Tarkov-meets-Skynet style backdrop, and those just seeking solace in beautifully crafted loot and objective-strewn environments. 

We count ourselves among the number, so below, we cover as much information as possible about the title, when it may fully emerge, and what to expect when you want to pick it up and jump into Speranza’s action-filled adventures. 

The Arc Raiders release date is the key query surrounding the title, but nobody outside of Embark Studios knows what it is for sure. 

We know the game is slated for a release sometime in 2025 (thanks to a Gamescom teaser trailer), and given the April-May Arc Raiders beta, we can assume that the title is at least approaching release readiness, with the game’s Steam and PS5 pages noting it is “coming soon”.

Purely speculatively, it may be that Arc Raiders releases to all platforms in the Fall. We say this because it’s when last year’s technical tests kicked off, and a whole year feels like a sensible time to get things in shape. 

Further, a September to November Arc Raiders release window would provide around five to six months from beta test to release. This feels in keeping with the current production cadence, and it would land Arc Raiders’ release date in a Prime Fall slot usually reserved for triple-A titles.

Of course, Arc Raiders developer Embark Studio also developed The Finals, which was released on December 7, 2023. As a…final thought, if you’ll excuse the pun, the same Thursday would be December 4, 2025. We’re just saying it could be significant.

Arc Raiders’ price is confirmed to be $40; however, pre-orders are not live yet 

Arc Raiders pre-orders aren’t live at the time of writing, despite the huge interest and many a would-be raider chomping at the bit. When they are, you can expect us to update this hub as quickly as a hornet’s laser. 

The game’s pricing isn’t live either, but we know that the Arc Raiders price is secured at $40. It’s well documented that the game’s Executive Producer, Aleksander Gröndal, used an August 20, 2024, announcement on Steam to reveal that the title would be $40. This denoted a shift from the free-to-play model approach and cemented Arc Raiders as a premium title.

What’s trickier to know beyond the above is whether Embark will provide various editions at different price points for Arc Raiders pre-orders or initial release. The Finals is a free-to-play title with various buyable ‘sets’ available as add-ons. Arc Raiders goes a completely different route, so there’s no precedent here. 

Confirmed Arc Raiders platforms includes PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S 

Arc Raiders’ platforms are well known by this point thanks to the official site, and the recent beta tests help to cement the fact. If you’re a PC gamer or PS5 or Xbox Series X/S owner, Arc Raiders will be available on your system on release, and via the GeForce Now service. 

The Steam page and Epic Store have been beacons for PC players for some time, and an incredibly barebones PS5 page has joined them. While the meta description for the page is there, the content boils down to, “This game has just been announced*. Check back soon to get the latest news, screenshots, and trailers.” 

For now, there’s not even a placeholder for an Xbox or Microsoft Store page for the title, but given support for the game is clear from the official Arc Raiders site, it’s only a matter of time.

The latest Arc Raiders trailer arrived on April 28, 2025, to reinforce what we already know about the lore, while adding a more relatable human feel and danger to the events going on in the game. In it, we hear a conversation between a raider and his partner, where the raider is asked, “How was your day, Honey?”. 

As cinematic visuals and encounters of raider action play out, the raider replies that his day was “pretty intense”, but he brought something as a present. As the trailer rolls on, this touching voice-over conversation highlights that the raider finds things “here and there”, and while he confirms he has encountered Arc (the robotic invasion force roaming surface environments), they’re the least of his problems. 

What the uninitiated can take from this is that while the PvE elements provide a challenge while salvaging loot, the other raiders (human players) are the real potential threat. This dynamic is what makes the title so appealing since it was converted from a pure PvE third-person shooter. 

All missions and objectives come with varying and, as the trailer suggests, uncontrollable levels of risk: Will you run into Arc? Probably. Will you run into another raider? Maybe, but how will they engage with you? 

Arc Raiders is described as being set in a lethal future with a mechanised threat (Arc). This is true, but it’s a human element that makes trips to the titles’ desolate surface-level environments all the more enjoyable and challenging. As you work to build your legacy and provide supplies and salvage, the question of what you and other raiders are willing to do looms large against an ever-present robotic threat. 

The Arc Raiders trailer is masterful in its combination of querying the will and intent of would-be players with the sheer randomness and reaction of raider encounters (not to mention an excellent audio-visual treat), to the action that will undoubtedly be core to the enjoyment and replayability of Arc Raiders. 

The official system requirements are yet to be revealed 

Although we do have some information from recent play tests about the Arc Raiders system requirements for PC, these are not official for the release version of the game and will likely be refined before appearing on respective Steam and Epic Games store pages, where information is still TBD or TBC. Here’s what we have so far:

The game’s minimum system requirements are PCs running Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600 processor, with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 580 graphics cards with 4GB VRAM for Nvidia and 8GB VRAM for AMD. These are low-performance parts for a modern title and likely provide minimum support to gauge what’s technically possible. 

Meanwhile, the recommended Arc Raiders system requirements for the latest test are PCs running an Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT with 8GB VRAM recommended. Such systems are more likely to provide a pretty smooth 1080p experience, but you can expect more modern part requirements for 1440p or 4K resolutions on release.

Additionally, while both sets of requirements suggest Windows 10 or later, Windows 10 is scheduled to end its extended support in October, so a Windows 11-supporting system may also make sense by the time the Arc Raiders release date arrives. 

While we don’t know the Arc Raiders release date, we do know that it’s coming at some point this year, according to Embark Studios itself, and it will cost $40 on arrival. We can’t wait to jump in when it does arrive, and we’re wondering if a November or December release could see us facing Arc and raiders for survival once more. As a premium product, it appears vastly different from the company’s previous release, The Finals.
