Deal of the day: Book lie-flat business-class seats to Peru starting at 35,000 Amex points

Editor’s note: We bring you new deals of the day as we find them, so check back soon for more. Availability for these deals changes regularly, so book now!

You only have a few weeks left to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan.

Although Alaska is not a direct Amex transfer partner, until June 30, you can transfer Amex points to HawaiianMiles and then transfer them to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan at a 1:1 rate.

There are some incredible redemption opportunities through Mileage Plan that are definitely worth the effort of the double transfer via HawaiianMiles, even if you never set foot on a Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines aircraft.

Right now, you can book lie-flat seats to Peru on LATAM starting at just 35,000 Alaska miles — a terrific deal. Here’s what you need to know.

Airline: LATAM

Routes: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Peru, LIM to ATL, Miami International Airport (MIA) to LIM, LIM to MIA, Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Sao Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), GRU to BOS, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to GRU and GRU to JFK

TPG tip: While both LATAM and American Airlines flights are available between MIA and LIM for the same price, look for flights operated by LATAM for a lie-flat seat rather than the recliner-style seating American Airlines offers.

Best way to book: Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan by transferring American Express Membership Rewards points to HawaiianMiles at a 1:1 rate before June 30, then transferring to Mileage Plan, also at a 1:1 rate (note that Amex does charge an excise tax offset fee of 0.06 cents per point; this fee is capped at $99)

Price: 35,000 Mileage Plan miles plus $34 in taxes and fees from ATL and MIA to LIM; 50,000 Mileage Plan miles plus $19 in taxes and fees from BOS and JFK to GRU

Retail price: Starting from $1,140

Travel dates: August 2025 to April 2026; specific dates may vary by destination

Or, you can connect from other U.S. cities for 45,000 to 60,000 miles. Keep in mind, though, that most of these itineraries will only offer legs on American Airlines with recliner seats to LIM.

If Peru isn’t your thing, there are also nonstop options flying LATAM to GRU from JFK and BOS for 50,000 miles each way and minimal fees and taxes.

You can book these flights online through the Alaska website. But remember, card transfers to partner programs like HawaiianMiles cannot be reversed, so ensure you find availability before transferring points.

How to earn the points and miles required for TPG’s deal of the day

Until June 30, the HawaiianMiles program is a 1:1 transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards, meaning you can currently transfer points from that program to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan.

Here are some great card welcome offers that earn Membership Rewards points:

  • American Express® Gold Card: Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership.
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express: Earn 80,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $8,000 on purchases in the first six months of card membership. However, some readers have been targeted for up to a 175,000-point bonus after meeting the minimum spend requirements using the CardMatch tool (offer subject to change at any time). Terms apply.
  • The Business Platinum Card® from American Express: Earn 150,000 points after spending $20,000 on eligible purchases within the first three months of card membership. Plus, earn a $500 statement credit after spending $2,500 on qualifying flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel® in the first three months of card membership. You can earn one or both of these offers, which end June 30.

Or, you can earn Alaska miles directly with either the Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card or the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card.

Bottom line

It’s hard to overstate how valuable the ability to transfer Amex points to Alaska Airlines via the Hawaiian Airlines trick is.

This benefit ends June 30, so if you are considering traveling to South America and have American Express Membership Rewards points (or Hawaiian or Alaska miles) to redeem, now is a great time to book a lie-flat-seat deal.
