If you’re craving a holiday in Europe this summer, you still have time to redeem your points and miles.
While we usually recommend booking flights for popular travel periods and routes well in advance, today’s deal of the day shows plenty of nonstop business-class flights from various North American destinations to sunny Portugal flying TAP Air Portugal, which will offer more than 100 weekly flights across the Atlantic this summer.
Combining fantastic weather, incredible cuisine, history and surprising affordability, we’ve found flights to both Lisbon, the capital, and the picturesque UNESCO World Heritage site of Porto.

How to find and book TPG’s deal of the day

We used the time-saving Seats.Aero tool to quickly find availability between North America and Portugal throughout the summer.
For the best deal, we recommend booking through Air Canada’s Aeroplan program. For a one-way business-class flight from the northeast to Portugal, you’ll need just 60,000 points per person, plus minimal fees, taxes and surcharges of around $50, depending on the origin and destination for the lowest reward.
Availability from the West Coast of the U.S. to Portugal requires a slightly higher 70,000 points for the lowest reward, but it is still a terrific deal for such a long overnight flight.
You can book these flights online through the Aeroplan website. However, remember that credit card transfers to partner programs like Aeroplan cannot be reversed — so ensure you find availability before transferring points.
Business-class passengers can select seats for free and bring one full-sized carry-on bag (22 inches by 16 inches by 10 inches), plus one personal item (16 inches by 12 inches by 5 inches) and two checked bags of up to 70 pounds each.
How to earn the points and miles required for TPG’s deal of the day
Along with the fantastic award rates, one of the reasons we love Aeroplan is that it’s a 1:1 transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards points, Bilt Rewards Points, Capital One miles and Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Transfers are usually instant.
Here are some great credit card welcome offers that would earn you enough points and miles for a business-class flight to Portugal.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (see rates and fees): Earn 60,000 points after spending $5,000 in the first three months of account opening.
- Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: Earn 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
- Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card: Earn 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

However, some readers have been targeted for up to a 175,000-point bonus using the CardMatch tool (offer subject to change at any time). Terms apply.
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (see rates and fees): Earn 90,000 bonus points after you spend $8,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
Bottom line
Whether you’re a seasoned visitor or planning your first trip across the pond, Portugal makes for a fantastic destination, especially in summer. Think “Spain but cheaper.”
From the cosmopolitan, buzzy capital of Lisbon to the historic beauty of Porto and the world-class beaches in the southern Algarve region, it’s no surprise that Portugal is rapidly increasing in popularity.
Paying just 60,000 points for a lie-flat seat to Portugal this summer is a terrific deal, so we recommend taking advantage of this opportunity as soon as possible.
