Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, two popular mobile games by developer Supercell, will be getting an animated series on streaming platform Netflix
An announcement trailer was released on Supercell’s YouTube channel earlier today (May 20th), sharing that the show will be based on both titles. Moreover, the developer noted that the series is currently under pre-production.
In a post on X, Supercell wrote: “We’re partnering with Netflix to bring the war-waging world of CLASH to life like never before. A new animated series has been greenlit and is currently in pre-production. That’s all for now. More details are coming later, but we just couldn’t keep it a secret any longer.”
According to a post by Netflix, Fletcher Moules will be the showrunner of the series. He has previously worked on Clash of Clans animated videos for Supercell.
The head writer will be Ron Weiner, who previously worked on shows such as Futurama, and animation will be led by Vancouver-based ICON Creative Studio.
“Clash has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade, filled with humour, action, and unforgettable characters perfect for an animated series adaptation,” said John Derderian, Vice President of Animation Series at Netflix.
“Working with the incredible team at Supercell, Fletcher Moules and Ron Weiner, we’re bringing all the fun, chaos and spirit of the world of Clash to life in a whole new way. We can’t wait for fans — old and new — to experience the mayhem.”
Clash of Clans and Clash Royale Become the Last Game Anime
Spearheaded by Supercell — the creators of esports title Brawl Stars — Clash of Clans and Clash Royale have become among the most popular mobile games in their respective genres.
With a series of highly popular animated shorts, fans have also been demanding a fully fledged animated show for years.
Netflix itself is no stranger to adapting gaming titles into TV format, including the critically acclaimed Arcane series based on Riot Games’ League of Legends franchise. The streaming platform also made an animated series for Dota 2 called Dragon’s Blood.
In particular, Clash of Clans has also fostered its own unique esports scene, with the Clash of Clans World Championship set to take place later this year, hosted by Supercell and boasting a prize pool of $700,000 (~£546,000).
Its most recent tournament was the April qualifiers, which had a prize pool of $39,000 (~£29,000). The winners were esports organisation DIZI, who achieved a narrow victory against Natus Vincere (NAVI) in the grand final, earning a spot in the World Championship.
