Let's break each one down further. Battle ranking The first factor that influences your rank is battle performance. Screenshot by Destructoid Overall, it's all about how skilled you are with Deltarune's combat system. If you struggle to avoid enemy projectiles, you may have a hard time reaching S-rank in combat. In this case, try defending a few extra times and eating food rather than using Ralsei's heals to keep your TP high. Similarly, if you have no trouble dodging attacks but don't pay attention to your TP, your final rank will suffer. Strike a balance between keeping your TP above the S-rank threshold per battle while dodging as much as possible and taking relatively few turns to end the fight. You also don't have to worry if you get one A-rank fight here and there. Even if you end the round with an A-rank in combat overall, getting an S-rank in other areas can still save you. Point gained outside of combat Another way to raise your end-of-round rank is to gain points outside of combat. Early on, this will involve solving quiz questions correctly, finding coins around the map, and discovering a croissant that allows you to pull weeds out of the ground. You'll naturally find this croissant as you progress through the map, so don't worry about this being a potential secret. Screenshot by Destructoid To put this into perspective, I completed every quiz question correctly and spent some extra time pulling weeds until I ended round one with 1,750 points earned outside of combat. I earned a T-rank because of this, which balanced my A-rank in battles and the end-of-round minigame, allowing me to achieve an S-rank. As long as you're willing to explore the whole map, you can easily get S-rank or even T-rank just by letting Susie pull weeds for extra points. This'll require more effort in later rounds but is still entirely possible. Minigame score The last factor that influences your ranking is end-of-round minigames. Every Tenna game show round has a minigame that lasts around two minutes. While I won't spoil every minigame, the first will test your ability to collect falling objects and deliver them while avoiding constant obstacles. The more points you score, the higher your rank. In this case, achieving an S-rank requires collecting approximately 500 points. This one is the trickiest of them all since you can't practice your minigame skills beforehand. Be sure to listen to Tenna's instructions before and, if needed, take some moments to mentally prepare. The first minigame is all about balancing speed with agility as you dodge obstacles, while those beyond will prioritize entirely different skillsets. What if you had a bad battle or messed up during a minigame and ended up with an A-rank instead? Do you lose out on Deltarune's Chapter 3 secrets? Fortunately, there's one more method you can try. Deltarune Chapter 3 S-rank guide

Deltarune S-Rank door chapter 3

One of the best parts of playing Deltarune is unlocking its secret bosses and uncovering mysteries only available if you push past your limits and explore every nook and cranny of the map. In the case of Chapter 3, every secret revolves around ranks during Tenna's game show.

If you only care about completing the chapter without discovering its secret boss, you can progress through each round, accept whatever rank you get, and move on. However, whether you unlock the chapter's secrets depends entirely on your performance. Here's a comprehensive guide to achieving an S-rank on every Tenna game show round in Deltarune.

How to achieve S-rank in Deltarune

In Deltarune, Tenna's game show consists of three rounds in which you can achieve an S-rank. Your rank is determined by how many points you collected throughout the round, which is influenced by the following three factors:

  • Your battle performance
  • Points gained outside of combat
  • Minigame score

In short, achieving S-rank requires taking as little damage as possible during battles while maintaining high TP, collecting points outside of battle during various means, and performing well in the end-of-round minigames. Let's break each one down further.

Battle ranking

The first factor that influences your rank is battle performance. You'll engage in three battles during each round, each of which is evaluated by how little damage you take, how quickly you defeat your opponent, and how much TP you have.

You also don't have to worry if you get one A-rank fight here and there. Even if you end the round with an A-rank in combat overall, getting an S-rank in other areas can still save you.

Minigame score

The last factor that influences your ranking is end-of-round minigames. Every Tenna game show round has a minigame that lasts around two minutes. Turning down this hall will bring you to a character who'll sell you an S-rank for that round if you have enough points. If you don't have 1,500, you'll miss out on the opportunity altogether.

What does S-rank do in Deltarune?

Reaching S-rank is the first step to finding Deltarune Chapter 3's secret boss. Before you can find this boss, however, you'll need to enter the S-starred door in the top-right corner of the Green Room. While a guard will normally prevent you from entering, they'll let you through if you're S-rank, allowing you to access the room's secrets.

Alongside some goofy interactions with a few characters, the real treasure behind these doors is an alternative singleplayer minigame that Kris can play. Playing through this game after each round lets you collect keys that, as you approach the end of the round, will be a core component in discovering Chapter 3's secret boss.

At the time of writing, very little information is known about how to find Deltarune Chapter 3's secret ending. We'll continue to update this page with more details as they become available.
