DIY new sewer line for new 1/2 bathroom
I got a quote for $20k to add a 1/2 bathroom, just for piping the sewer. I get it, we need to cut the concrete, go out 30 feet and tie into the sewer. It went down to $10k if I had the hole open for them. But if I was going to go to all the trouble to do that why not just finish the job? I understand that there is some specificity in the job such as where everything goes. But what specifically does the plumber need $10k for if the hole is open, it feels like 1 day of work. If he were to say $3k I get it, it would be a days worth of work and that would be fine, I would not hassle with it, but $10k? I feel I could get 30 feet of ABS or PVC and glue it together, give it a slope, measure the toilet and sink and then put a vent in, they don't even deal with the roof for $10k! Do you all have any major success stories and horror stories regarding this? For context this is a gut job remodel. submitted by /u/illcrx [link] [comments]
