Few fashion staples are as essential yet as frustrating as a good pair of tights. No matter how carefully you pull them on, they seem to snag within seconds, developing a laddered run by the second wear—if you’re lucky. Between thin, flimsy materials and high price tags for hosiery that barely lasts through the night, finding a reliable pair of tights feels like an impossible task. Could Calzedonia tights be the answer?
The internet-favorite brand is what celebrities seem to choose to wear whenever they step out. Calzedonia, the hosiery brand known for its high-quality legwear, has been receiving a wave of praise online. Social media is filled with testimonials raving about the durability, stretch, and sleek look of Calzedonia tights, with some claiming they are the only tights worth buying on the market today. Plus, most of its pairs range from $10 to $20, though some retail for even less.
Curious to see if these viral favorites live up to the hype and if they're worth your money? L'OFFICIEL editors put different pairs to the test. From everyday sheer styles to thicker, cold-weather options, we tested Calzedonia tights in various scenarios—long workdays, nights out, and even during unpredictable city commutes. Keep scrolling to see our honest reviews, including which we loved and which tights were too fragile.
Tulle Tights with Rhinestones
"I've been curious about nude-colored sheer tights lately, especially after watching stars wear them over the years and seeing how good their legs look, be it Beyoncé or Sabrina Carpenter on stage. Since I was feeling festive too, I opted for Calzedonia's Tulle Tights with Rhinestones ($20), which are made to have that skin-like finish with a little extra glitz. The truth is these tights are incredibly fun and can add a nice touch to your outfit, whether it's with a mini skirt or Valentine's Day outfit.
"But they have some drawbacks, too. These look best when the color of the tights match your skin tone, but since the colorways are restricted, there's limited wearability there. Plus, as someone who usually wears long nails, be careful with snagging these. I'm a Sheertex loyalist because I've had some pairs for years, and they're still (magically) snag-free. But Calzedonia tights require a little more caution when handling." —Andrea Bossi, Digital Editor
Thermal Super Opaque Tights
"If, like me, you get extremely frustrated when trying to dress chic in the cold months, then Calzedonia's Thermal Super Opaque Tights ($25) are exactly for you. These are the solution to being able to wear your miniskirts and shorter dresses all year round, and they feature a lined interior that guarantees warmth. To me, Calzedonia's thermal tights don't feel overly heavy, unlike other popular fleece-lined offerings. And while they have an opaque finish, they won't give you that dreaded "leggings under your skirt" look—very early-aughts-coded. Having worn them for long office days and evenings out alike, I can say these thermal tights don't restrict your movement or compromise comfort, and these Calzedonia tights do a good job keeping your legs warm (as much as possible) in New York’s freezing temperatures.
"While black tights are always a reliable choice, I decided to give the Gray Heather shade a try. I especially recommend this hue to those trying to reduce the amount of black in their winter wardrobes, as I found it perfect for adding some depth to my outfits." —Trinidad Alamos, Fashion Editor
20 Denier Ultra Comfort Sheer Tights
"I tried out the 20 Denier Ultra Comfort Sheer Tights ($10). These tights deliver the delicate, ultra-sheer look you want, making your legs appear smooth and polished with a subtle, elegant finish. The fabric gives just the right amount of coverage while maintaining a barely-there effect, perfect for dressing up or adding a touch of sophistication to any outfit.
"However, be prepared to handle them with extreme care. As sheer and lightweight as they are, they’re also quite fragile. Snags and runs can happen easily, so putting them on requires patience—gentle hands and trimmed nails are a must. If durability is your main priority, these might not be the best option for everyday wear. Sizing up is also recommended for these Calzedonia tights. The fit runs a bit snug, and going up a size helps prevent excessive stretching, which can make them more prone to tears. Overall, these tights are a great choice for achieving that refined, barely-there look, but they require careful handling and the right sizing choice to get the most out of them." —Allie DePinto, Social Media Director
Invisible 20 Denier Sheer Tights
"After years of collecting and wearing tights, I’d like to consider myself somewhat of a tights connoisseur. Private school meant mandatory tights, and any holes or rips in tights were strictly forbidden. When it was time to try out Calzedonia tights, I had high expectations from reviews on social media. I chose to try out the Invisible 20 Denier Sheer Tights ($25)—as I prefer simple, sheer black tights for everyday wear.
"From the jump, I was impressed with the waistband, which I believe is their main selling point. Unlike the tight, constricting bands of other brands, Calzedonia’s waistband is soft, stretchy, and thick, providing comfort without the dreaded squeeze. I didn’t need to whip out my old trick of cutting slits on each side of the waistband to find relief from the band digging into my skin. Despite being sheer, the fabric feels durable and thick. I wore the tights four to five times before noticing small holes and runs on the upper thigh, which, while a little disappointing, is still far better than other tights I’ve tried. Overall, their comfort and durability are the reason I am inclined to ditch other brands, and the reasonable price tag also helps their case." —Grace Clarke, Digital Associate
