Everything to Know About Lexee Smith, Addison Rae’s Pal and Creative Compatriot

Many know Addison Rae, the TikTok star turned pop music sensation, but many don't know the choreographer who's been right alongside her success. Lexee Smith is a 24-year-old dancer and choreographer who has collaborated with a vast range of music artists from Billie Eilish to Janet Jackson. The spotlight is increasingly turning to her as people online discuss Rae's rebrand and source of inspiration.

Smith and Rae met at a party in Los Angeles by happenstance, and that was a moment where everything after changed. The two have been inseparable since and have also contributed their fair share of pop music to the charts. The duo has worked on Rae's songs, "Diet Pepsi," "Aquamarine," and "High Fashion" and the success of those songs and music videos inspired Rae to name Smith her "movement director."

Before meeting Rae in LA, Smith was heavily enveloped in dance. The Houston-born creative got started when she was just four years old. She pursued dancing as a career and decided to move to LA at 12 years old to pursue better work opportunities. As a teenager, Smith made her stage debut dancing alongside music icon Janet Jackson. That was a turning point in her career as she kept amassing success with each artistic collaboration, each bigger than the last.

After the run with Jackson, the choreographer began working with FKA Twigs and became a member of her dancing troupe. This even earned a guest appearance in the English singer's 2019 music video for her song "Holy Terrain" featuring Future. In 2021, Smith caught the attention of Grammy-winning artist Billie Eilish. Eilish recruited Smith to collaborate on different projects, including as the star of her music video for "Lost Cause."

Even social media can't get enough of Smith's feline-inspired choreography. She posts videos of her performances, from the studio to her bedroom to outdoor settings, for all of her nearly 430,000 Instagram followers to see. Smith has captivated audiences and is considered to be one of the trendiest dancers at the moment. Her most recent artistic collaboration was with Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga. The singer sought out Smith to appear in her music video for "Disease" and dance a duet with her.

As Smith earns more and more recognition, it's not just her wild dance style that people are paying attention to. There is discourse too about Rae's rebrand being heavily inspired by Smith. That may be the case, and Rae won't be alone as more learn about Smith and her trendsetting taste. In an interview with Document Journal, she revealed that her main fashion inspirations are Marilyn Monroe and Dita Von Teese. She's also heavily influenced by balletcore, the edginess of rock 'n' roll, and Y2K glamour.

Smith is just getting started, making her someone to keep an eye on ahead as she continues to conquer the music industry with her feline sensuality.
