Fiberglass roof deck repair

I have a large fiberglass rooftop deck. About 20 x 30'. As far as I can tell, it's OSB or plywood, with fiberglass on top, and then paint over top of that. While I was renting, we had some minor leaks, and the landlord had a crew some in and completely refinish it. I am not sure if they re-did the fiberglass but they definitely sanded and re-painted. Fast forward 2 years, we bought the place, and cracks are starting to show, and an old leak has re-appeared. The cracks and leak mostly line up with higher-traffic areas, but I think unrelenting sun exposure is another major culprit as well. I have been able to confirm these small hairline cracks are the source of leaks by using a thermal camera and a moisture meter. Anything downhill from the small cracks will have moisture beneath, but uphill is all dry. During the cold months I was able to buy some time with flashing tape but now that it is warm enough I'm ready to try a proper fix. My plan is to cut out sections using a oscillating tool, and use fiberglass cloth and resin (bondo brand) to patch, and then layer on a fresh coat of either waterproof deck paint or elastomeric roof coating. Probably the latter. I will likely coat the whole thing even where the fiberglass is in good shape. I am mostly looking for advice on what product to use that has weatherproofing and is also fairly durable for foot traffic and patio furniture. I plan to set up some sort of permanent sun-shade pergola as well to hopefully prolong the life, and perhaps even lay down raised deck tiles. If anyone could give me some pointers, especially on the materials that would be a big help. Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/9n5mwfwio8se1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4c1ae883d5b0ba0d5f5500fc68428724be0c318 https://preview.redd.it/66zitdwio8se1.jpg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7d41af78442d91333ec2f2a317e23dfa6c7efe5 submitted by /u/Crypty [link] [comments]
