Gucci Honors The Art of Silk

Despite recent high-level shakeups, Gucci is still focusing on returning to its roots. Honoring a century-old legacy, the brand has tapped nine international artists to reimagine core tenants of house codes for a series of silk scarves in a project titled "90x90." The five themes include the equestrian horse bit, nautical motifs, flora, fauna, and the interlocking GG logo. The artists selected to interpret these works are: Gio Pastori, Walter Petrone, Everett Glenn, Sara Leghissa, Currynew, Jonny Niesche, Robert Barry, Inji Seo, and Yu Cai. Alongside the "90x90" scarves, Gucci, in partnership with Assouline, will also release a coffee table book titled Gucci: The Art of Silk. Curated by Jo-Ann Furniss, the book explores the longstanding legacy of the brand's silk foulards. The book also comes with a Gucci Flora motif silk slipcover. In conjunction with the campaign launch, Gucci will host in-person activations in Paris. This month, Gucci will also be honoring its iconic 1947 Bamboo Bag in an exhibition at Sunke Villa in Shanghai.
