'Severance' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far
After that wild season 2 finale and a swift renewal from Apple TV+, here’s what we can expect next from Lumon—including the return of Mark S., Gemma’s fate, and a (thankfully) shorter wait. Spoilers ahead!

Apple TV+'s acclaimed sci-fi thriller Severance has officially been renewed for a third season following the jaw-dropping season 2 finale that aired on March 20—a conclusion that let’s be honest, had all of us screaming at our screens at Mark S. (Seriously, Mark, why did you do that?)
The series, which explores the lives of employees at Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure separating their work and personal memories, continues to leave audiences at the edge of their seats with its intricate, unique storyline and its complex anti-heroes for characters.
In the season 2 finale, titled "Cold Harbor," viewers witnessed pivotal developments we've patiently waited for all season: Mark's innie and outie personas collaborated to rescue Gemma from Lumon's control, revealing the company's unsettling experiments that were leading to her ultimate demise. The episode masterfully intertwined tense rescue missions and emotional reunions with surreal humor and a marching band dance number from none other than Mr. Milchick, accompanied by Lumon's very own choreography and merriment department. But by the end of the episode, a handful of questions remain unanswered—especially when it comes to the fate of the innies and Gemma—perfectly setting the stage for what's to come in season 3.
The renewal announcement was made by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who confirmed the news on his X account. Executive producer and director Ben Stiller expressed his enthusiasm for the next season in a news release, stating, "Making 'Severance' has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I've ever been a part of," He explained. "While I have no memory of this, I'm told making season three will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well."
So, what can we expect from Severance Season 3? For starters, the wait won’t be nearly as long this time around. Executive producer Ben Stiller reassured fans on X that it “definitely” won’t take another three years—so yes, Stiller, we’re holding you to that.
The core cast—Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, and Patricia Arquette—is all expected to return, picking up the tangled threads of a story that’s only grown more complex (and addicting) over time.
Will season 3 kick off right where we left off? Showing us exactly where Mark S. and Helly R. are running to—since, let’s be honest, they don’t have many places to retreat to—and what Gemma decides to do after being left behind by Mark in the final moments (I am still really upset about this, by the way.)
With so many lingering questions and shifting allegiances, fans can look forward to diving even deeper into Lumon’s unsettling world and watching the emotional—and ethical—stakes rise even higher.
