How to complete Katano Castle and all rewards in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Katano Castle is one of the first major enemy encampments you'll come across in Feudal Japan in Assassin's Creed Shadows. It's a large fortress that features some pretty sweet rewards, but only if you complete the castle "correctly." Below, you can see how to complete Katano Castle and the rewards you'll get for it. How to complete Katano Castle in Assassin's Creed Shadows Katano Castle is located on the eastern side of Izumi Settsu. You can reach it by heading northeast from your Hideout or by going north from Osaka, Saki, and the Izumi Coast. Katano features a fast travel point on top of the large castle building in the southwestern part of the fortress. To get into Katano Castle, you need to cross one of a few bridges and defeat some guards or find another way in. One of the best ways to get inside is to travel around the fortress until you see a large tree branch that allows you to climb up and jump down into the area, avoiding the tall fortress walls and any guards. Not only does this allow you to save your game, but it also gives you a good idea of how the fortress is laid out. You'll want to know the ins and outs of the grounds, as you need to locate two specific enemies in order to fully complete Katano Castle. These enemies are known as "Samurai Daisho" and they have a distinct warrior mask icon above them. Katano Castle features two Samurai Daisho and they are located at different spots around the fortress. Unfortunately, they don't stay in one spot, so it can be difficult to pinpoint where they'll be. I was able to find one Samurai Daisho patrolling a courtyard on the northern side of Katano Castle while the other one was located on the southeastern side, to the left of the main castle on your world map. Eagle Vision activates an infra-red view that you can use to see enemies highlighted in red on your HUD and mark lootable rewards as white or gold dots. You can only see red-outlined enemies that are somewhat close to you, so head around Katano Castle and use Eagle Vision in different spots until you find both Samurai Daisho. As for killing them, the best way to go about it is to assassinate them. However, you likely won't be able to kill them completely, just damage their health. From there, it's down to an old-fashioned fight. It's best to attack the Samurai Daisho in areas where there aren't a lot of guards so you don't have to worry about more enemies. Once both Samurai Daisho are dead at Katano Castle, you can claim your rewards. However, there are plenty of additional rewards located all around the castle grounds. You can loot dozens of chests, collect Hideout materials, and even smuggle resources out from under the enemy's noses. Smuggling resources are required to complete the "Smuggler's Run" side quest in Assassin's Creed Shadows and requires you to have an available Scout. These resources are usually found in locked buildings along the castle grounds, which require a nearby key to open. Smuggling resources can be a great way to get some Hideout materials. They help your progression a ton and allow you to collect Mon (gold), resources, gear, and more. If we're strictly talking about the big rewards, though, you need to head up to the very top of the main castle. Here, you'll find a board you can climb down into.
