You'd expect wood planks to be easy to find, but RuneScape: Dragonwilds locks them behind a mess of buildings and mechanics. Instead of grabbing them off the ground, you'll have to craft them. I assumed something as basic as a Sawmill would unlock within my first 10 hours, but no luck. Eventually, I realized you need to gather Bronze Bars first, which are made from smelting Tin and Copper Ore at the Furnace. Even if you do unlock the recipe, you'll still need to gather the following resources: 18 Ash Logs 4 Bronze Bars 8 Stone RuneScape: Dragonwilds' tutorial phase should've pointed you in the right direction for the Ash Logs and Stone. While it'll take a while to gather the amount required for the Sawmill, you can utilize spells such as Rocksplosion and Axtral Projection. The area containing Bronze Bars recommends Level 3 gear, so expect enemies around that rank. You can try sneaking in if you're under-leveled, but you'll probably get caught in a fight. Bring a bow or whatever weapon you're most comfortable with to handle any trouble that comes your way. From there, you'll be able to place down the Sawmill, finally unlocking the ability to turn basic wood into usable planks. From this point on, you'll be spending a fair bit of time feeding logs into the Sawmill, so get comfy and keep that wood stockpile coming.
