How to solve the Strange Little Verse IV riddle
The fourth riddle reads:
A Proper Scholar Honours the Imperial Majesty.
The imperial crown,
Without a doubt
Cannot a bird's nest be.
For everyone will wonder,
What's this for majesty?
But when there's nowhere left to try
And birds much build their nests on high
Let it at least a kingfisher's be.
A sparrow's is not what we want to see.
The clues of the riddle point to majesty (or kings/emperors) and a bird nest on high. This can be a tough riddle, mostly because I know of only one bird nest in Kuttenberg and it's hard to spot on the map.
On the western side of the city is The Emperor Charles Tavern. Looking at it on the map, you may not be able to easily see the icon for a bird nest, but it's there.
Head to the tavern and go inside. Follow the stairs all the way up until you reach the attic.
Look for the bird nest in the window that points to the street in front of the tavern. Crouch down, aim, and dislodge it with a rock by pressing the G key on the keyboard, the LB button on an Xbox controller, or L1 on a PlayStation pad. You should also be able to knock it down with an arrow or bolt.
The nest falls to the street. Go back to the front of the building and search the nest for Strange Little Verse V.
How to solve the Strange Little Verse V riddle
The fifth and final Strange Little Verse goes:
A proper scholar knows his Saints!
St. George has struck with his deadly spear,
The dragon bleeds and writhes in fear.
But St. George is not done yet.
Beneath his helm he turns his head.
He fixes his gaze towards the east
Where there spawns another beast.
This dragon though from rock is made.
In its throat a window will come to your aid.
Your clues include St. George, who attacks a dragon with his spear, a stone dragon to the east, and a window where you will find your reward.
Like with Strange Little Verse III and the clock tower, it pays to keep your eyes open for the particular marker to help you solve the riddle. In this case, you must look for a painting of St. George attacking a dragon.
There are multiple buildings with large paintings or murals, but only one bearing a St. George hunting a dragon. To find it, head to the northern section of town on the street with multiple armorer shops.
The painting of St. George can be found high on the pale, yellow building belonging to one of the armorers.
To the right is a stone building with green paint. If you squint, the two windows above an arch sorta resemble a dragon.
Go under the mouth arch and search the small window near the doorway.
Inside, you'll find your reward for solving the riddles:
- Master's Studies IV
- On the Composition of Alchemy IV
The books increase your Scholarship and Alchemy skills, respectively, after you get both to the minimum level of 15.
