Hyatt’s Luxury Casa Duhau Resort Coming To Mendoza, Argentina

Hyatt has just announced plans to open a new property in Argentina, and it’s one I’m looking forward to visiting. However, we’ll have to be patient.

Basics of Casa Duhau, part of Hyatt Unbound Collection

Hyatt has revealed plans for Casa Duhau, a new Hyatt Unbound Collection property in Mendoza, Argentina. This newly built luxury property will be part of Reserva Alto Agrelo, a new development project spanning nearly 1,000 acres, and including a winery.

The hotel portion of the development will include 52 keys, comprised of 40 villas and 12 suites. The property will feature two signature restaurants, a swimming pool, a fitness center and spa, and more. There will also be 116 residential lots for sale.

Hotel construction is expected to start at the end of 2025, with an anticipated opening date in late 2027 (though I wouldn’t count on that sticking). Interestingly, the people behind this development are the same people behind the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires.

Reserva Alto Agrelo will be home to Bodega Agrelia, a premium boutique winery from winemakers Michel Rolland and Marcelo Pelleriti. There will also be Casa David – Wine & Horses, an equestrian club with an advanced facility offering a veterinary clinic and training center for horses, 24-box stable, and more.

Casa Duhau will be located around 30 minutes from the city of Mendoza, and 35 minutes from El Plumerillo International Airport (MDZ). The resort will feature panoramic views of Cordón del Plata, a mountain range in the region.

I look forward to visiting this property when it opens

I’m not necessarily the biggest wine drinker, but I do love wine regions, as they typically have beautiful scenery, and a great climate.

Argentina is a funny market for Hyatt, since there are already two Park Hyatt properties. However, they’re both very much past their prime.

The Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is still regarded as one of the city’s best properties, and has great bones. However, there’s no denying that the rooms are getting a bit dated, and need a refresh.

Meanwhile the Park Hyatt Mendoza is on a completely different level when it comes to being outdated. I visited about 15 years ago, and even then the property felt old, and I don’t believe a whole lot has been done since then. I can’t imagine it lives up to the Park Hyatt name anymore, but then again, the property is reasonably priced, typically around $200 per night.

Anyway, the new Hyatt Unbound Collection property looks like it should be beautiful, and a more modern, luxury property. I look forward to learning more details as the opening date approaches.

Bottom line

Hyatt’s Unbound Collection is coming to Argentina, with the opening of Casa Duhau in Mendoza, Argentina. This will be part of a large new development, which will also feature a winery, plus a residential community. While details remain limited, this is a hotel that I’ll be keeping on my radar.
