Lafayette 148 Fall/Winter 2025: See All of the Looks

Lafayette 148’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, entitled Woven Stories, is a homage to the history of female textile artistry, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Under the creative direction of Emily Smith, the new collection delves deep into the roots of textile design, highlighting the talents of the women in the brand’s New York atelier.

This season, the garments strip back to their base, bringing typically hidden details to the forefront. Custom-designed jacquards, exposed seams, exaggerated fringing, and hand-stitched embellishments dominate the narrative, while deadstock fabrics are transformed into new compositions, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

One standout piece is the fringed skirt, which reimagines a classic herringbone weave through interwoven strips of leather and suede. This fusion of matte and shine showcases the atelier’s handwoven prowess. Similarly, a cropped top and pencil skirt crafted from black cotton-silk tape yarn features a sheer border that mimics the loose ends of looming textiles, adding a delicate, lace-like finish. 

Prints and embellishments further explore the collection’s textile theme, with a handwoven open-knit swatch imprinted on a gel plate, resulting in a trompe l’oeil effect on a white poplin shirt. This same swatch technique is translated into a handwoven leather fringe top and blazer, using their careful craftsmanship and creating modern silhouettes. The jacquard houndstooth suit, cinched at the waist, softens traditional menswear into fluid, feminized tailoring.

By stripping back the layers that often cause craftsmanship to fade into the background, Lafayette 148's Fall/Winter 2025 collection clearly aimed to spotlight the foundational elements of clothing and foster an appreciation for well-made, cherished pieces.
