Yunara is League of Legends’ newest champion, a traditional ADC landing with Patch 25.14 on July 16th.
Unlike most bot lane marksmen, Yunara brings a mix of magic damage and on-hit effects, while still retaining chances of building crit items. But most importantly, she’s designed for players who enjoy focusing on auto-attacking consistently, offering a refreshing but familiar playstyle for ADC players.
Simply put, her kit seems to focus around timing and consistency. Yunara’s Q, ‘Cultivation of Spirit,’ stacks up when she auto-attacks, and after eight attacks, she can activate it to make her shots hit multiple enemies—kind of like a Runaan’s or Twitch’s ultimate. Her W, ‘Arc of Judgement,’ is a spinning, circular skillshot that bounces behind the target and deals splash damage. Her E, ‘Kanmei’s Steps,’ is a movement speed boost, which can be helpful to either follow-up an engage or quickly move under tower if the enemy jungle approaches.
Last but not least, Yunara’s ult, Transcend One’s Self, is a powerful transformation that changes all three abilities for 15 seconds—giving her instant splash autos, turning W into a straight beam called ‘Arc of Ruin,’ and upgrading her E into a short-dash-ability renamed ‘Untouchable Shadows.’
Yunara is built to be a strong backline carry in long fights, especially when pairing her with items like Runaan’s Hurricane or Wit’s End. Unlike many recently released champions, Yunara has no invisibility, true damage, or dodging abilities, which might make her more fair to play against.
However, this also means she’ll require smart play and good team support to shine on the late stages of your games. Without a doubt she’s an easy ADC to approach if you’re new to League, but by no means that translates into an automatic win for your team.
How Yunara Will Likely Shape League Esports Competitions
As Yunara releases right after MSI 2025, pro players across all regions will have time to practice her during scrims before the Summer Splits begin. That bit of extra practice time paired with Fearless Draft makes off-meta picks, like Yunara, much more viable.
That’s right — Yunara probably won’t be a first-pick ADC in pro leagues as her lack of early-game dominance and limited mobility make her harder to pick above a safe, lane-dominant champion. Instead, we may see her used as a situational counter-pick, especially when teams want to add magic damage to their team comp without playing into a predictable—yet currently strong—mage mid.
However, Yunara’s strong waveclear makes her useful for teams that want to play for lane control and objective setup, those who like to patiently wait for the 25-minute mark before engaging in a big teamfight in front of Baron’s Pit.
Like LCK teams, which might draft her for slow, controlled teamfights comps while LPL teams could try to use her early waveclear and ult timing to dominate early-game skirmishes. In LEC, which often embraces new picks faster than other regions, we may see Yunara experimented with early in the Summer, either from a veteran, versatile team or a newcomer waiting to prove themselves. LTA teams could work Yunara into their comps to try creative strategies that might focus around her ult.
But right now we’re on Patch 25.12, and most balance changes are focusing on top and mid lane champions. ADCs aren’t a top priority in pro patches at the moment, so unless Riot buffs her soon after release, Yunara might stay as a niche pick instead of a new meta staple. Still, with the right comp, Yunara could be a hidden weapon ADCs could master ahead of the World Championship.
