Marvel Rivals introduces limited time event Hellfire Gala: Moments

Marvel Rivals announced that a new event, called Hellfire Gala: Moments, will be running from May 2nd to 23rd, 2025, alongside a series of new features and changes.

News of the event was shared through an online blog post on the official Marvel Rivals website, promising limited-time challenges, free unlockable rewards and more.

A trailer posted on YouTube revealed even more information. The event consists of three acts, which are separate limited-time activities you can complete to earn free rewards.

Act one is dubbed ‘Explore Krakoa,’ where gamers are required to visit key areas of interest on the new Krakoa map introduced at the beginning of Season 2. Doing so will net you rewards such Chrono-tokens.

Act two is called ‘Hellfire Trading Company Gifts,’ where you must complete a series of in-game challenges to collect X-coins. You can draw gifts by redeeming cards and unlock rewards such as the ‘To Me, My X-men’ emote for Emma Frost.

Finally, the third act is the ‘Gala Star Vote,’ a community voting event. Earn voting tokens by completing in-game challenges, then allocate the votes to one of eight characters based on who is your favourite. The winner will then receive a new costume in a future update.

Voting 10 times will also reward a gallery card based on who you vote for. Here are the available characters:

Participating in the event will also reward players with the free Wolverine Patch costume, as seen in the Season 2: Hellfire Gala official trailer.

NetEase’s blog post about the new event also included additional game updates, mainly new skins that will be available in the in-game store.

Several costume updates will be released, including the Winter Soldier Thunderbolts Bundle and Black Panther Damisa-Sarki Bundle. Dr. Strange’s Multiverse of Madness costume will also be changed, adding visual updates after community backlash, and Thor’s Lord of Asgard costume has been changed to ‘improve visibility.’

Something noteworthy, albeit glossed over, is what was said about hero scores. Competitive score changes that were introduced with the performance-based system have been a divisive topic online. While nothing specific was shared, it seems NetEase is finally addressing this issue with this update.

In the post, NetEase said: “Using the latest S2.0 data, we’ve recalibrated the baseline data for calculating each hero’s performance scores.”

We may start to see more even and fair point distributions after the patch drops on April 30th – though only time will tell how effective this will end up being.
