MetaSapien, previously known as METAHOMO, is developing a blockchain-based platform that seeks to modify traditional esports structures.
The system aims to grant players with greater control over gaming experiences and rewards.
How MetaSapien Uses Blockchain Logic To Reimagine Web3 Gaming
According to its official blog, the platform assigns each player a MetaID, a permanent blockchain profile that records in-game performance, behaviour and community participation.
This digital identity serves as a verifiable record of a player’s history within the ecosystem, similar to a digital resume. Players who maintain strong reputations gain access to additional features, including tournament-hosting privileges.
Automated smart contracts manage these tournaments, enforcing rules and distributing rewards without human intervention. This approach aims to reduce potential bias and manipulation in competitive events.
The project claims to move away from the older ‘Play-to-Earn’ model, which it describes as focused on short-term profits.
Instead, MetaSapien promotes a ‘Play-to-Own’ approach, where players are rewarded with long-term value, identity and recognition.
