Spanish esports organisation Movistar KOI has faced allegations from its fan club surrounding the organisation’s internal operations.
Fan club Las Karpas has shared information surrounding serious alleged incidents that have taken place within the team house of Movistar KOI’s League of Legends roster.
In an X (formerly Twitter) post published on May 6th, 2025, Las Karpas reveals ‘completely unacceptable situations’ that have occurred within the team house.
The alleged incidents range from players not receiving medical treatment from doctors, players finding glass within its food and drinks, and players being denied their bonuses due to conflicts with staff.
In addition to the reported mistreatment of players, the team’s psychologist allegedly received less pay than other members of staff, resulting in the team’s head coach, Tomás ‘Melzhet’ Campelos Fernández, paying for them to attend a bootcamp using his own money.
“Situations like these are absolutely unacceptable in any professional environment, especially in one that claims to care for its people,” Las Karpas noted in the statement.
“This is not about a logo or a brand. It’s about the well-being of individuals who have given everything for this team.”
In response to the allegations, Adam Adamou, the CEO of Movistar KOI’s parent company OverActive Media, stated on social media yesterday that the company is actively looking into the matter.
“Nobody is untouchable. My responsibility is to KOI and to the Truth. I hear KOI, and I’m working to the truth. We are one or we are none. Give me some time and space to make some difficult decisions,” said Adamou.
A few hours later, it was revealed that Movistar KOI’s executive management will now emanate from Europe, according to Fernando Piquer, Movistar Rider’s Founder and current OverActive Media Chief Strategy Officer.
In an X post made hours after Adamou’s statement, Piquer said that he will share more information on the allegations on later today (May 7th).
Esports Insider has contacted OverActive Media for comment on the situation. This article will be updated with any response that is received.
