New built-in dishwasher: front panel hits bottom edge when opening – how to fix elegantly?

Hi everyone, I recently installed a new built-in dishwasher and tried reattaching the original front panel from the old machine. It matches the rest of the kitchen and I’d really like to keep it. Problem: When I open the dishwasher, the lower edge of the panel hits the bottom part of the dishwasher or kitchen unit and blocks the door from opening fully. With the previous machine, everything fit just fine – so I assume this one is either slightly taller or the hinge geometry is different. My current idea: Cut off the bottom part of the panel and reattach it using a hidden hinge, so it folds back automatically when the dishwasher is opened. Questions: • Are there any invisible or discreet hinges suitable for this kind of use? • Has anyone solved a similar problem before? • Or are there any alternative ideas for dealing with this – ideally something that doesn’t look like a DIY hack? Thanks in advance for any tips or shared experiences! submitted by /u/saschafiedler [link] [comments]
