Nintendo has confirmed players will be able to use the Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls on the Home screen.

Ever since the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, fans have speculated on the use of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we finally had official confirmation that the Joy-Con can operate in "mouse mode," which lets players slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate a left-click and right-click similar to a standard mouse. Additionally, two Joy-Con can even be used in mouse mode simultaneously with one in each hand, or one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.

And now we know even more. As shown off on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls can be used to navigate the Home menu on the Switch 2.

If you "place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen," Nintendo explained. "To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown.

"While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo added, "[and] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." When you're ready to use the thumbstick again, simply move the Joy-Con 2 into a horizontal position again.

We don't yet know just how many games will be mouse-compliant, but Nintendo has shown the tech working with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, plus the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.

The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut on June 5. Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders went live on April 24, with the price still fixed at $449.99 — and they went about as well as you'd expect. Check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide for more.
