Nintendo has announced it's expanding its partnership with baseball team the Seattle Mariners. Just ahead of Opening Day 2025, Nintendo has confirmed that every Mariners jersey will have the Nintendo logo on it this season.
The expanded collaboration can be seen in a new promo video released today, where Seattle Mariners centerfielder Julio Rodríguez shows off the bright red logo on the jersey sleeve. Per Nintendo's announcement, the console and game maker will be on jersey sleeves this season, starting with Opening Day 2025 on March 27, when the Mariners host the Athletics.

Nintendo has quite the history with the Seattle Mariners organization. The company bought the Mariners in July 1992 after much consternation from the league over an American team being owned by a Japanese company. It was the first MLB team with non-North American ownership, but at the time, was likely what kept the Mariners from leaving Seattle.
The stadium in Seattle has featured a number of Nintendo promotions over the years, like free access to the Nintendo Fan Network, which allowed DS owners at the time to follow statistics, scores, and compete in trivia competitions.
In 2016, Nintendo of America announced it would sell its majority interest in the Mariners to other members of the ownership group. Still, Nintendo retained a 10% stake in the team.
Now, with Nintendo ramping up towards the release of the Switch 2, the team seems to be putting the logo and imagery front-and-center in its baseball partnership. It's a neat reminder of the long-running history between the two organizations, and I do have to say, the logo looks good on the sleeve. Now, one can only hope this is somehow a portent of a new Mario baseball game. It's been too long.
Nintendo is set to share more news about its upcoming plans and the new Switch 2 console in a Direct in April, not long after Opening Day for the Mariners. The stream will air at 6am PT / 9am ET on April 2, 2025.
