Madelyn Cline Gets Candid About Fame, Breakups, and Life After 'Outer Banks'
With a new movie on the way and Outer Banks wrapping up, Madelyn Cline reflects with Therapuss podcaster Jake Shane on her whirlwind career, working with an ex, and why she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

Madelyn Cline has had a whirlwind few months, from the late 2024 release of Outer Banks Season 4 to filming the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer remake, all while balancing a packed interview schedule and life in the public eye. In a recent episode of Therapuss, the podcast hosted by Jake Shane, Cline opened up about her latest projects, how she’s been spending her free time, and her approach to handling difficult situations—particularly in love.
Cline reflected on what it’s been like working alongside her ex-boyfriend and Outer Banks co-star, Chase Stokes, emphasizing her commitment to professionalism and grace. Acknowledging the scrutiny that comes with a public breakup, the actor shared, “You look at any public breakup, and so many people are invested."
"There was a period where Outer Banks and that public relationship were my identity,” the former L'OFFICIEL cover star admitted before adding, “but like any breakup, you grow out of it.”
Despite recent headlines about behind-the-scenes drama—after former co-star Rudy Pankow unfollowed Cline and fellow Outer Banks star Madison Bailey—Cline has stayed quiet on the issue, choosing to focus on her gratitude for the show. She looks back on her time with the cast fondly, noting its massive success despite premiering during the pandemic without a traditional press tour.
A fifth and final season of Outer Banks is confirmed, but filming isn’t set to begin until mid-2025. However, fans won’t have to wait that long to see Cline back on screen—she’s set to star alongside Lola Tung and Gabbriette in the upcoming summer thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Sharing her excitement for the release, Cline revealed that the entire film was shot in just six weeks—a stark contrast to the seven to eight months it typically takes to film a season of Outer Banks. Despite the fast-paced schedule, Cline embraces every part of the industry, making it clear that her dedication and professionalism aren’t going anywhere.
