TL;DR

  • Stadium is Overwatch’s new mode that focuses on builds and economy.
  • The best Overwatch Support characters right now are Moira, Juno and Kiriko.
  • Moira is recommended for beginners as her build is very straightforward.
  • Juno is for more knowledgeable players who can understand the rhythm of a match.
  • Kiriko can farm ultimates and make her team invulnerable, but requires aim and quick reaction times.

Support players can use the Stadium mode to transform their favourite Overwatch hero into a completely different character or to realise their potential to the fullest. Overwatch 2 is leaving a rare period of positive feedback from the community, thanks to the Stadium Mode and the powers, items, currency, and builds it allows to create. As the designated healers of the game, support players must balance their survivability with ability power and focus on damage and ultimate farming. A well-balanced kit, with spikes where it matters, is the best tool to win and rank up in this new mode.

So far, the best Overwatch 2 Support characters are Moira, Juno and Kiriko. If you’re taking your first steps into the Stadium Mode, Moira is the character with the best simplicity-to-effectiveness ratio thanks to the power of her orbs. With her torpedo build, Juno is a mid-game powerhouse that can heal and damage simultaneously, but it needs map and situational knowledge to be effective and stay alive. Kiriko is for the more knowledgeable players who know how to aim and, most importantly, have good reaction time to counter or predict with a Suzu an enemy ultimate or flank.

Moira

Why Moira: We picked Moira for beginners because she can heal a lot and damage as much with her orbs maxed out, and her build crafting is very customisable.

Moira is the character for beginners in the Overwatch Stadium Mode because she’s easy to build and take value from. The anchor point of this build is her  Biotic Orb, so the first Power to get is  Multiball to have three orbs with reduced effect both when healing and when doing damage. Then, at round three, Cross-Orbal grants us an additional  Biotic Orb of the opposite type to support or punish frontliners. At round 5, the build gets rounded up thanks to Optimal Overflow, which creates an additional  Biotic Orb when Moira uses 50% of her healing. If the game gets to round 7, Chain Grasp will boost Moira’s Damage.

The first item to be prioritised from round 2 onwards is Smart Orbs to make the  Biotic Orbs move more slowly when healing or damaging. Then save up for Extendrils to increase their range. After that is just ability power boosting with Nano Cola and Champion’s Kit with High Capacity Tubing and Alternative energy to have more healing, improve Fade. The key to success here is not to overextend, look for kills, prioritise healing orbs, stay close to the frontline, and use damage to finish fights quickly.

Juno

Why Juno: Juno has been chosen because she can reach great values in healing and damage, and is very resistant while doing so. The downside is that she requires some map knowledge to find cover, even when flying to launch the Torpedoes.

Jun’s best ability is her Pulsar Torpedoes; her best build goes all in on it to maximise efficacy, damage, healing and uptime. The three main powers of this build are Cosmic Coolant, Medicinal Missiles and Pulsar Plus to have more torpedoes more often that heal more. The order in which to get them depends a lot on the chosen playstyle: we opted for Plus-Coolant-Medicinal to maximise uptime, sacrificing healing, getting them the other way round, however, will prioritise your ally’s health. If the game gets to round 7, Torpedo Glide can boost this build even further.

Item-wise, the cornerstones of this build are Lock-On Shield to get overhealth while aiming  Pulsar Torpedoes, Vishkar Condensor to have more shields and Pulse Spike to have faster torpedoes and more attack speed. Pulsar Destroyers ups  Pulsar Torpedoes’  damage and grants lifesteal, while nano Cola and Champion’s Kit get the Ability Power up to speed for the endgame. Juno needs to be airborne to fire loads of torpedoes and be resistant while doing so. That’s why it is important to have good map knowledge and know when to push or retreat to keep everyone alive.

Kiriko

Why Kiriko: Kiriko, much like Cassidy in our DPS build guide Link, tops this chart because, with enough skill, she can both dish out a lot of damage and healing with no drawbacks, but landing her kunai is essential.

If you know how to aim, then Kiriko is the right choice for playing support. That’s because she can become an unkillable menace with her kunai and Suzu. Foxy Fireworks is, therefore, our starting Power to deal more damage. Then, Two-Zu grants Kiriko a second Protection Suzu, followed by Clone Conjuration, so after using Swift Step, a clone of her is created to distract enemies. At round seven, we recommend Fleet Foot to use  Swift Step without a target to dodge all the enemy ultimates.

The objective of this build is to maximise damage and healing, as this character’s Weapons value influences them. Farsight Focus Sash grants more healing projectile speed after dealing damage, and Asa’s Armaments make the Kunai bounce off surfaces. Spirits’ Guidance continues this trend with Weapon Power and ofuda projectile speed with The Closer and Eye of the Spider to really push on critical damage and low health targets. Before going in with Kiriko, warming up the aiming skills in the practice range is always better to get the most out of this build.

Conclusion

In the Stadium mode, Supports gain the malleability the community has long requested from Blizzard. Depending on playstyle and situation, a character can heal more, deal more damage, or have more tools to stay alive. Thanks to various heroes, there’s room to express different approaches to the gameplay in the current roster. We picked Moira for beginners because she is easy to comprehend and adapt.

We chose Juno for players with intermediate experience because mapping and building knowledge are needed to get the most out of her. Kiriko is a character for experienced Overwatch 2 fans because she needs aim training and quick reaction times to work. But it can deliver both high damage and high healing at the same time.
