Crypto meets arcade nostalgia as Noodle.gg was unveiled on the Solana network, reviving snake gameplay with real-money stakes and a growing meme-coin economy.
Launched 24 hours ago, Noodle.gg, a crypto-enhanced remake of Slither.io, is the latest game to captivate the Web3 community.
Snake-Eat-Snake for Solana Wagers
On May 13th, Alex Leiman introduced the game, describing it as a crypto twist on the classic arcade-style snake game.
Players grow by consuming defeated opponents, with each kill granting them the fallen player’s entry fee. However, death means losing it all.
Despite being in early beta, the game has already drawn 2,500 active accounts and more than $350,000 worth of Solana ($SOL) tokens in wagers.
Leiman has teased upcoming updates, signalling a longer-term roadmap for development.
The hype escalated when Leiman posted a Solana contract address for a $NOODLE/$SOL meme-coin. Traders rushed in, pushing the market cap to a record high of $19m before settling at around $5.07m in market cap.
Over 6,000 wallets now hold the token, with speculation that $NOODLE could become the native wagering token soon.
Noodle was launched via Believeapp, a Solana-based launchpad that has seen its own token, $LAUNCHCOIN, skyrocket from $1m to a $270m market cap, generating $6.3m in daily revenue.
Leiman, previously recognised as the developer behind viral projects like RizzGPT and Astra, was endorsed by the Believeapp team as an “exceptional builder,” known for contributing over 10 million total downloads across his projects.
Reactions Split Across Crypto Gaming Circles
The gaming community has offered a mixed verdict. While many players celebrate its nostalgic snake battles and real-money rewards, others question its originality.
“Everyone’s been midcurving blockchain games, this looks super fun,” said Austin Federa, the co-founder of Double Zero.
Another supporter posted, “Won money & it allowed me to withdraw. Gud tek.”
Others criticized Leiman for copying Slither.io without major innovation.
Noodle.gg is one of the newest products built on Solana, leveraging the snake-style games. In November 2024, $SOL Arena, a similar PvP concept, also gained attention.
The growing genre now stands alongside other novel projects like Black Mirror’s official token, which gamifies social credit.
