After a night of surprises, FURIA, PaiN Gaming and 3DMAX have qualified for Stage 3 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, scoring wins over B8, Lynn Vision Gaming and FaZe Clan, respectively.

On the other side of the bracket, M80, TYLOO and Team Falcons are out of the tournament, ending their Major campaigns with a 1-3 win-to-loss record in Stage 2.

Brazil’s PaiN Gaming And Furia Reach Stage 3

After missing out on qualifying for Stage 3 following a defeat to Virtus.pro, PaiN Gaming booked its place with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lynn Vision Gaming. After securing a 13-8 victory on Dust II, the Brazilian organisation made light work of Lynn Vision Gaming by recording a 13-4 win on Nuke.

The Chinese side will have another shot at qualification in Round 5, with Lynn remaining the country’s only representative at the Major.

While Stage 2 has proven to be difficult for Asia’s representatives, South America has thrived in this section of the Major. In addition to PaiN’s victory, FURIA also achieved qualification for Stage 3 with a 2-1 win over B8.

After initially faltering, recording a 13-3 loss on Mirage, FURIA mounted a comeback, winning its games on Train (13-6) and Dust II (13-7). The two Brazilian teams join the already qualified Legacy in Stage 3.

To round off a day of surprise results, 3DMAX successfully defeated FaZe Clan to become the fifth team to qualify for Stage 3.

The French side scored a hard-fought 13-8 win on Nuke before continuing the momentum with a 13-9 victory on Inferno. FaZe Clan moves to a 2-2 map record and will face off against MIBR (Made in Brazil) for another chance to qualify.

M80, TYLOO, Team Falcons Fall At Second Hurdle

Heading into Stage 2, M80 began Stage 2 with the weight of North America’s hopes on its shoulders after Complexity and NRG failed to advance past the first stage of the region’s first Counter-Strike Major in seven years.

M80 began the Major with a defeat to TYLOO before recording a victory against OG Esports in round two. However, defeats to FURIA and a 2-0 loss to Nemiga Gaming rounded off a disappointing campaign.

With the North American side now out, Team Liquid remains the only North American representative in the BLAST.tv Austin Major.

Elsewhere, TYLOO’s Major journey has come to an end. The Chinese side managed to win the opening map of the series against HEROIC. Still, the Nordic organisation’s experience shone through to take the series 2-1, eliminating the Chinese team from Austin.

The biggest shock of Stage 2 is the elimination of Team Falcons. Despite investing heavily in a star-studded roster, the Saudi Arabian side was stunned in a thrilling Inferno match against MIBR (Made in Brazil), sending them out of the tournament with a 1-3 record.
