Team Falcons has been eliminated from the BLAST.tv Austin Major after suffering a surprise defeat to MIBR (Made in Brazil) in Stage 2.
Despite assembling a superstar roster, including the likes of Ilya ‘M0NESY’ Osipov, the organisation recorded a close 2-1 defeat to the Brazilian organisation.
Heading into the Austin Major, Team Falcons was considered a team capable of defeating French powerhouse Team Vitality after winning PGL Bucharest in April and placing second at BLAST Rivals Spring and IEM Melbourne.
Despite this momentum, the team struggled to find its footing early on in the Austin Major, scoring a 13-8 defeat on Anubis to B8 and a 13-9 loss to Lynn Vision Gaming to begin Stage 2 with a 0-2 record.
The Stage 2 favourites struggled to find confidence — but ultimately prevailed 2-1 — in its first elimination match against OG Esports, narrowly avoiding a shock 0-3 exit from the Major.
Team Falcons Fail To Soar
Day three of Stage 2 against MIBR initially looked positive as Team Falcons showed signs of why many expected the team to book its place in the Playoffs. A convincing 13-6 win on Anubis led by M0NESY put the organisation one step closer to Stage 3.
However, on Nuke, it was a different story. MIBR managed to continue clutching, leaving Team Falcons attempting to recover from any disadvantage lost. With only two T-side rounds secured, the team fell short when trying to reduce the deficit in the second half, ultimately losing 13-9.
Team Falcons’ BLAST.tv Austin Major campaign came down to a decider on Inferno. The team managed to overturn a 10-4 deficit to force overtime and had several opportunities to secure the series and a place in Stage 3. A failed 5v3 post-plant scenario gave the opposition one chance and a slender advantage, which ultimately proved to be the difference as MIBR walked away with the close 22-20 victory.
What’s Next For Team Falcons?
With Team Falcons now out of the BLAST.tv Austin Major, the team turns its attention to the remainder of the 2025 season.
Following a disappointing showing at Counter-Strike’s biggest tournament, it’s possible that the organisation might make changes to its roster. A Sheep Esports report claims Team Falcons has signed 17-year-old Russian player Maxim ‘Kyosuke’ Lukin to its team.
Kyosuke is one of the hottest prospects in Counter-Strike esports after standout performances while competing for Team Spirit‘s academy roster.
