Range hood Cfm and duct size
We have a run of the mill 30" range hood (just a contractor grade Broan unit, "max 300cfm"), and a 7" flex duct hooked up to it (total length of duct is only about 5-6' to outside, no hard 90° turns or anything). The vent hood definitely makes a big difference in terms of the kitchen heating up when we cook, but it's still pretty apparent when there's smoke, steam, etc., that the range hood isn't moving enough air to get it all out. I looked up some higher CFM models, and found a few at the big box stores from... Interesting sounding brand names, that claim 900cfm out of only a 6" duct. The kind of products where the stock photos of it, manual, instructions, specs are the exact same for about 6 or 7 other models from "different brands"
