Removing ceramic corner shelves from drywall

Anyone know what I’m getting into by removing floating corner “soap dish” ceramic shelves from drywall? The only thing I can find online is about removing these from tiles. Are they likely to be mounted with hardware, or directly onto the wall? Is this a reasonable task for a DIY-er? The most I’ve done is re-caulking a shower.
