This is already a great price for an Alienware laptop equipped with the RTX 4060 GPU, but this configuration also upgrades the processor to an Intel Core Ultra 9, which is uncommon at this price point. The m16 R2 is Alienware's most popular gaming laptop, which isn't surprising considering its excellent build quality, top-of-the-line gaming prowess, and reasonable price point. The "R2" is the second generation model that was released in 2024; it's 14% lighter and more compact than its predecessor without compromising on performance.
$400 Off Alienware m16 R2 16" Gaming Laptop
This Alienware m16 R2 gaming laptop feature a 16" 2560x1600 QHD+ display, the new 14th gen Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, RTX 4060 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H is a Meteor Lake CPU with a Turbo Boost clock speed of 5.1GHz with 16 cores. It offers great gaming and workstation performance while consuming less power than its 14th-gen predecessor, thus reducing heat and increasing battery life.
The RTX 4060 GPU with 115W TGP (140W with dynamic boost) is no slouch when it comes to gaming performance. It should be able to run most games at 60fps on the display's native 2560x1600 display, although you may have to scale down settings on the most demanding titles. The RTX 4060 GPU supports DLSS 3.0, so any game that supports the technology should run very smoothly.
Upgrade to RTX 4070 GPU for $200
For an extra $200 you can upgrade to an RTX 4070 GPU. On the processor side, you are limited to an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, but at QHD+ resolution, most games will be GPU - not CPU - bound. That means that this laptop will be able to push higher framerates and/or higher settings than the RTX 4060 gaming laptop. For anyone who prioritizes gaming performance over all else, the $200 extra cost is justified.
