Should you get Black or White Kyurerm in Pokémon GO first?

As part of the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova Global, Black and White Kyurem are available to battle and obtain for the first time in the mobile game’s history. Both are strong in their own ways, and it’s worth getting both, but which one should you go for first? There are pros and cons to both Black and White Kyurem, and it honestly comes down to personal choice, depending on your playstyle and preferences. Getting even one of them means putting in a lot of effort, so you need to make the choice — which comes first? With that in mind, let's take a look at Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in a little more detail. It has both Shadow Claw and Dragon Tail available as fast attacks, and, provided that you use a Kyurem that knows Glaciate when fusing, your resulting Black Kyurem will have access to Freeze Shock as a Charged Attack.  That’s one hell of a move set, and it can easily put out some of the highest DPS of any Pokémon. Even outside of those major attacks, Black Kyurem can also learn Outrage, something that White Kyurem can’t do. But that doesn’t mean anything without good base stats. Thankfully, Black Kyurem also boasts some pretty impressive base stats: Attack: 310 Defense: 183 Stamina: 245 Max CP: 5,206 White Kyurem attacks and stats Image by Destructoid Although Black Kyurem is capable of outputting higher DPS in general, White Kyurem is without a doubt the best Ice-type attacker currently in Pokémon GO. Although it does have the ability to use Dragon-type moves, it’s worth focusing on Ice-type moves like Ice Fang and, if the Kyurem you used to fuse knew Glaciate, Ice Burn.  If you don’t have a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, White Kyurem is still a strong Ice-type attacker thanks to Blizzard, which is much weaker than Ice Burn but still strong enough against Pokémon weak against Ice-type attacks. White Kyurem also has the Fire-type Fusion Flare as a Fast Move, and although White Kyurem lacks STAB, the move is still extremely powerful against Steel-type Pokémon in a pinch.  This Ice-type behemoth boasts the same stats as Black Kyurem: Attack: 310 Defense: 183 Stamina: 245 Max CP: 5,206 Should you get Black Kyurem or White Kyurem? Image by Destructoid It’s a tough decision to make, right? Even if you eventually end up with both of them, you're always going to have to choose which one to get first. With two badass Pokémon to choose from, it can seem like an impossible choice. However, it all pretty much boils down to one important difference.  Black Kyurem is by far the strongest overall physical attacker, putting out a huge amount of DPS pretty much constantly. White Kyurem, on the other hand, focuses more on special attacks that do a huge amount of damage when used, but the overall DPS suffers due to weaker Fast Moves.  Black Kyurem is preferred for taking on Raid Bosses that are weak to both Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, but White Kyurem performs better against those who are weak to either Ice-type attacks, as well as any Flying-type Pokémon you’re likely to encounter. There are more bosses weak to just Ice-type attacks than those who are weak to both Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, so you need to decide if you want raw power or you're willing to forfeit overall DPS for strong Charged Attacks.  The post Should you get Black or White Kyurerm in Pokémon GO first? appeared first on Destructoid.
