Sprinkler System Fix Options

Hello r/diy! I had a pipe in my sprinkler system burst this year, joy of joys! Of couse it broke in about the worst place possible in my yard, right next to (and under) the one tree in my yard! As far as I can tell I have two options to get it fixed, but if anyone has alternative options I would love to hear it. I provided some photos for context, but first some details: They system runs off of a pump in my yard that pulls off an irrigation pipe that runs through my neighborhood. my front and side yard zones still work fine, the line that is broken only affects the back yard. The pipe in question is 1' pvc and runs right next to/over two other pipes. The tree in question is a small, apple tree that I do not care much for. It was neglected by the previous owner and does not produce usable fruit as far as I have seen. The break completely shattered the one pipe for several feet. As you can see in the photos I dug up about 1' of the line to figure out what I am dealing with. As I started to investigate the extent of the damage I started pulling on some of the shards and the break extends at least another foot past where I dug up and runs under the small apple tree in the picture. As far as I can tell I have two options to fix this: Option 1 (red): Dig around the tree and and rout the broken line that way. This is what I am leaning toward. Option 2 (blue): Dig along the existing line which would requre digging up the tree. Any feedback, suggestions, and opinions would be appreciated! https://preview.redd.it/giwd7cfiz38f1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b85e6cef5664aef6022f090d4635aadab18132e6 https://preview.redd.it/87zpgh9jz38f1.jpg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49ab3b096ccb8b1055c124dff9849f479d0d0839 submitted by /u/cbdessel [link] [comments]

I provided some photos for context, but first some details:

They system runs off of a pump in my yard that pulls off an irrigation pipe that runs through my neighborhood. my front and side yard zones still work fine, the line that is broken only affects the back yard.

As far as I can tell I have two options to fix this:

Option 1 (red): Dig around the tree and and rout the broken line that way. This is what I am leaning toward.

Option 2 (blue): Dig along the existing line which would requre digging up the tree.

Any feedback, suggestions, and opinions would be appreciated!
