Embark Studios‘ arena shooter title The Finals has partnered with DreamHack and ESL FACEIT Group to launch its inaugural Major esports event.

The LAN event will take place at DreamHack Stockholm from November 28th to 29th, 2025.

The Finals Major Format Explained

Qualifiers for The Finals‘ inaugural Major commence in September with open qualifiers taking place across North America, EMEA and APAC regions. The best teams from the open qualifiers will advance to the closed qualifiers.

The closed qualifiers will be broadcast live, enabling fans to watch the action. Details on where the matches will be shown have yet to be revealed.

From the closed qualifiers, the top 16 teams will secure qualification for the Major, taking place as part of DreamHack’s Stockholm event in November. The event will feature a $100,000 (~£74,764) prize pool.

“We are incredibly excited that The Finals’ first major tournament will be held at DreamHack Stockholm,” said Andreas Jernberg, Managing Director of EFG Nordics.

“Embark Studios is a Swedish game studio, and it feels great that DreamHack is the place that promotes Swedish gaming culture by being a global showcase.”

The Finals’ Esport Push

Since its release in 2023, The Finals has acted as a popular choice among players looking for an alternative first-person shooter experience. The title exploded in popularity, with over 240,000 players on Steam, receiving acclaim thanks to its innovative gameplay mechanics. However, over the last few months, the game has recorded between 12,000 – 27,000 players on Steam.

While the Major is the first tournament organised by Embark Studios, The Finals’ esports potential has been tested in third-party events such as Twitch Rivals and The Finals Masters Series

Following a sharp decline in player count, the title has continued building a steady uptick of players as Embark Studios renews its focus on esports.

If the first Major proves popular among fans and competitors, there’s every chance The Finals could become a mainstay within the esports scene.
