Transom windows over interior doors

I just closed on a mid 70’s split level, and the hallway is painfully dark. I considered a skylight tube, but I feel like the lenses create an almost artificial feel. So my next idea is transom windows over all the doors. But…mid 70’s 8’ ceilings are arguing with me. Pretty sure these are load bearing walls, but is it possible to replace the headers with a steel lentil and double the jack studs to make room for the windows, or am I just screwed? submitted by /u/Electrical-Fail485 [link] [comments]
