Twin sized bed middle beam

I have the IKEA Neiden twin sized bed and it came without the middle support beam. The one on the website is too wide for a twin. I have had the issue with the slats falling through in the past, so I bought new ones and velcroed them down but I realize that I need to DIY a good support beam in the middle since my mattress is THICK. I'm thinking 2x4 lumbar, the width should be around 97cm according to the dimensions. However, I'm struggling to calculate the approximate length/height of the support leg(s). This is mostly because I'm not sure of where the beam will actually rest, does it have to be in contact with the slats above? or do I nail it to the rails facing the floor? the dimensions for the space between the rails and the floor is 20cm but that excludes the "interior" side of the bed which's a bit shorter/higher. I'm an absolute noob when it comes to stuff like this; I used an eyebrow blade to cut the velcro tape so you can really imagine how much I'm struggling with figuring this out lol submitted by /u/Mediocre_Hair_ [link] [comments]
