G2 Esports is the first team to qualify for 2025 VALORANT Champions Paris

G2 Esports has eliminated Xi Lai Gaming (XLG) from VCT Masters Toronto to become the first team to qualify for VALORANT Champions Paris through Championship Points.

The team has collected a total of 18 points so far after winning the 2025 Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, while also achieving a runner-up finish at Masters Bangkok.

With this qualification, G2 has also secured the opportunity to retain its spot in the International League for another year.

All the team needs to do now is finish ahead of 2GAME Esports. That’s because if 2G qualifies at 2025 Champions Paris, or elsewhere, G2 will be relegated back to Ascension.

However, 2G will need to finish in the top two at VCT Americas Stage 2 to make it to the Champions — and based on the team’s performance so far this season, it would take nothing short of a miracle

“My brothers on 2G, I’m sorry, but I’m hoping you guys lose so we can stay in Ascension or VCT next year,” said G2’s IGL, Jacob ‘valyn’ Batio.

After winning Ascension Americas 2023 under the banner of The Guard, the roster was acquired by G2 Esports following The Guard’s exit from the esports scene. Since then, the team has given one of the most consistent performances in VCT.

G2 is now aiming to lift its first-ever international VCT trophy; however, the team need to execute a lower bracket run after facing a defeat from Paper Rex in the upper bracket.

The Americas representatives have already cleared the first challenge with a clean 2-0 win over Xi Lai Gaming and will now face the loser of the Sentinels vs. Paper Rex match, scheduled to take place on June 16.

The match will be streamed live on VCT’s official Twitch and YouTube channels, or fans can head to the Enercare Centre to cheer for their favorite team.
