UK Newbuild House – Can I Open Up This Stud Wall Under the Stairs? see photo!
I live in a UK newbuild (Taylor Wimpey) and want to remove part of the stud wall under the stairs to create more open storage. I’ve attached photos showing the existing structure. From what I can tell, the wall is non-load-bearing, but Stud C is screwed into the staircase structure (Part B), which makes me wonder if it provides any lateral support. The rest of the wall seems to be a standard partition. Has anyone done something similar? Would cutting out the studs cause any issues with staircase stability? Any advice would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/MeestaPomegranate [link] [comments]
