Where to find all Soulstones in Mount Heinmach in The First Berserker: Khazan
You can collect a surprising number of upgrade materials in The First Berserker: Khazan. Soulstones are some of the most important, and you'll start finding them in the first level, Mount Heinmach. Here's where to find them all while you're there. Don't think you won't work for them, though, especially if you're looking for them early in a playthrough. You'll find the first just beyond the first real challenge you'll face. The second is past a small platforming section guarded by angry monkeys and a massive troll. Continue through the cave past the soldiers and archers, and you'll eventually reach a large enemy wielding a halberd. While you don't have to defeat him to claim the Soulstone, he's good practice with any of the weapons in the game. Screenshot by Destructoid Take the pathway leading left from the rear of the room and you'll see the Soulstone on a ledge. If you've unlocked the Javelin, you can simply throw one at the stone to destroy it. Otherwise, keep to the path into the small cave hallway and look to your right. Second Heinmach Soulstone location Screenshot by Destructoid You'll find the second Soulstone after leaving the Frosty Cave. You're on the right track if you start encountering brown-furred monkeys. Eventually, you'll reach a small platforming section where you need to descend across some trees. Once you reach the bottom, continue until you see a large troll/yeti enemy patrolling the area. Screenshot by Destructoid Defeating the yeti makes things easier, as it can follow you up to the Soulstone's location. If you're facing the yeti (defeated or not), look behind you and too the left. There's a short path leading right up to the thing. Destroy it to claim the second and final stone in the level. How to use Soulstones Screenshot by Destructoid You won't be able to use actually use Soulstones for a while. Specifically, you'll need access to the Embar's Ruins level (the third in the story). There, you'll meet an NPC named Daphrona, a vendor who gives you the option to "Unleash Soulstones." Each time you "unleash" them, you'll spend Soulstones to either gain a 2-percent increase to the Larcrima you gain from all enemy sources or increase the amount of healing you receive from all sources. The first two times, you'll only need to spend two stones. But subsequent upgrades will cost three, four, and more as you progress through the game. Daphrona moves to the Crevice following completion of the Embar Ruins mission "Forgotten Temple." She functions the same there as she did during the mission: spend Soulstones for incremental bonuses. At certain intervals, Daphrona also allows you to increase your Spirit Gauge, though doing so also takes Soulstones and you cannot improve your Lacrima or health gains until you pay the requisite price. Personally, I think healing is always the best option when spending Soulstones. There are so many ways to quickly and easily farm up Lacrima that spending such a precious resource on it is silly.
