After four heart-pounding days, a winner has finally been declared at the Apex Legends Global Series Open (ALGS Open) in New Orleans. Though Team Falcons was forced into the Elimination Round initially, they managed to make the comeback of a lifetime and secure the first-place spot in the Match Point Finals.
Many competitors fought hard for a chance to win, but in the end, ImperialHal, Wxltzy, and Zer0 racked up 70 points in the Match Point Finals upon winning the last match.
Winner of the ALGS Open – Team Falcons

The victor of the ALGS Open is Team Falcons, a group made up of the best Apex players in esports history. Athletes Ben ‘Wxltzy’ Walton Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen, and Rhys ‘Zer0’ Perry were the force behind Team Falcons’ latest win, while Kyle ‘Draugr’ Gillard acted as a guiding light as the trio’s coach.
Team Falcons finished off the Match Point Finals with 36 kill points, 34 place points, and a total of 70 points. On day two of the ALGS Open, Team Falcons was knocked to the Elimination Round, causing fans to fear their possible exit from the competition.
Through a mix of confidence, skill, and luck, the athletes clawed their way back to the top, beating Alliance by just a thread.
While Team Falcons was granted a $300,000 prize for their success, Alliance earned $150,000 for placing second. Team Falcons’ massive slice of the prize pool pushed ImperialHal over $1 million earned in esports, a massive goal for the Apex star.
ImperialHal’s secret to success
Every member of Team Falcons is a seasoned Apex player, so their skill and knowledge of the game gave them an edge over opponents with less experience during the ALGS Open. While speaking about his recent victory, ImperialHal had one secret to success to share.
“I saw an image where it said 1% chance and 99% faith, and that’s all it takes,” ImperialHal told Esports Insider.
“You’ve got to really believe in yourself. Nobody’s ever won from loser’s bracket in a LAN final. Ever since we were in loser’s bracket after the second day, I was like, we’re going to change that. That’s belief,” said ImperialHal.
Confidence is key for anything in life, but it’s especially important for high-pressure competitions, like the ALGS Open.
ImperialHal’s deep respect for his teammates
Team Falcons’ ImperialHal praised both Wxltzy and Zer0 during a victory interview with Esports Insider. He told us about Zer0’s contribution to the team, stating that though there are other factors involved, Zer0’s performance is often the deciding factor between whether the trio wins a tournament or not.
“Zer0 is the main reason we win. He takes so much control. If we win, it’s because of him; if we lose, it’s because of him,” ImperialHal shared.
The 2023 champ also made a note of Wxltzy’s versatility, which helped Team Falcons immensely during the ALGS Open:
“Wxltzy coming onto the team, learning Newcastle, learning Crypto – these characters that he’s never played before, he’s done a great job making sure that he did his part. Wxltzy did a great job.”
Mutual respect between teammates can make or break a group’s synergy, so luckily for Team Falcons, the trio is able to acknowledge each other’s individual strengths.

Team Falcons’ rivalry with Alliance
Alliance may not have emerged victorious in the ALGS Open, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re one of the best Apex Legends teams in 2025. Esports Insider asked about which team offered the greatest challenge to ImperialHal, to which he noted the second-place team, Alliance.
“Those guys are either the best or the second-best team in the world. Their consistency has been disgusting. I know we took the spotlight and won, but right now it seems like it’s just a battle between us and Alliance.”
Alliance earned 61 total points in the Match Point Finals on May 4, tying for points with the third-place team, Al Qadsiah. Alliance won’t be losing its will to fight because of this loss. In fact, the trio will likely work harder since they came so close to winning at the ALGS Open.
What’s next for Team Falcons?

Team Falcons may have just won the ALGS Open, but there’s no rest for the best. The legendary trio will be preparing for the next EWC in the upcoming months, as they need to set the record straight with Alliance.
ImperialHal said this when we asked about what he plans to do now:
“Getting ready to win the EWC in July. We were supposed to win the first EWC, but Alliance won. We need to come back and get our revenge. We want to win the EWC, it’s very important to us as a team. Full-on work ethic,” stated ImperialHal.
ImperialHal is confident that Team Falcons can win the EWC, but a long road awaits for the ALGS Open champions as they strive to become the best Apex players ever to grace the competitive stage.
